Back

Giving back to the community my family lives, works, and plays in has always been an important part of being a small business owner. As with my work, I am compelled by the stories, impact, and faces of a nonprofit and its mission, which often leads to a great philanthropic partnership.

Below are some of the organizations and nonprofits my studio has supported over the years. And if you have a nonprofit or charitable organization you think would make a great Giving Back partner, please send me a message through our Contact Us form.

a special MOTHER CHILD book project

Last fall, I started a project photographing mothers and their children for my portfolio. It all culminated after a realization that, as a mother, I know we tend to not be in photos because we are usually the ones taking them, the ones running around in the background, or the ones who haven’t had time to prepare our hair or makeup in just that perfect way you want captured in a photo. It struck me as incredibly sad for the moms and children who will want to have those special memories and moments preserved in time. And, I have been there, jumping out of photos because I’m not happy with how I look that day. In fact, a few years ago when I had to find a photo of myself with each of my children for them to send to school, I realized I didn’t have any photos with them, and I’m a photographer! Since then, I’ve really made a conscious effort to get in there, be with them, and capture that moment for them and for myself.

Latest published Book project

Every year, I like to find a way to give back to the community by either donating auction items or my time for events. With none of those events currently happening, I came up with the book project idea and chose the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware because of the positive difference they are making for children in our community, especially during the pandemic. Because I already had a relationship with the organization and had seen firsthand all of the great work they do, I decided to reach out to see if they would be willing to partner with me to promote the book and be the recipient of the proceeds.  This year we finished a book to benefit Faithful Friends Animal Society and we are proud to have raised $10,000 for this deserving organization!
